Maya’s Magic Word is a trauma-informed children’s empowerment platform and early-learning curriculum designed to help kids ages 2–6 understand boundaries, trust their voice, and ask for help—before harm happens.
Through story, repetition, and developmentally appropriate language, the program equips children with emotional literacy and self-advocacy skills, while giving parents, educators, and caregivers a clear, gentle framework to have conversations that too often come too late.
This platform was created by survivor and mental health Coordinator, and advocacy leader, Ashley-Lauren Elrod, to fill a critical gap:
prevention that is proactive, accessible, and rooted in safety—not fear.
At a time when rates of child abuse, online exploitation, and emotional harm are rising, Maya’s Magic Word meets the moment with tools that empower rather than overwhelm.

Meet The Maya's Magical Adventures Team
Maya’s Magical Adventures is led by creator Ashley-Lauren Elrod, a board-certified mental health consultant, author, and national child advocacy professional, who created the first-of-its-kind early-childhood abuse prevention program rooted in trauma-informed storytelling.
The program is built in partnership with the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center and Imagine Theater Chicago, combining expert guidance and creative education to empower children, engage families, and inspire systemic change.
Advocacy + Leadership
Ashley-Lauren Elrod is a survivor-turned-social impact leader dedicated to empowering survivors and shaping policies that protect children and families. As an Advisory Board Member for the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center, newly appointed Community Board Member for Brooklyn’s District 11, and partner with the National Children's Alliance, she amplifies global efforts for the rescue and rehabilitation of those affected by abuse and trafficking.
Her Emmy-nominated, Cannes-winning partnership with Dove highlights her advocacy for mental health and child protection. A board-certified mental health coach, Ashley-Lauren offers trauma-informed healing to those navigating generational trauma. Her upcoming works, The Diary of a Recovering Inner Child and Maya's Magical Adventures, aim to empower children and survivors through healing and education on body autonomy and self-worth.
